24 January
Colerne

Todays game against Colerne RFC was a bit one sided but it gave everyone an opportunity to get on the pitch and brush the Christmas cobwebs off.  We swapped players constantly to give every one a game which meant we lost a bit of momentum but still managed a 56 - 12 win.  It was good to have so many players available to play which means that the competition for places/positions is healthy throughout the team.  Lots of fine performances today but the final decision for the Best Effort Cups went to Ben Symons in the backs and Harry Cromack in the forwards.

22 November
Bath and Midsomer Norton

Well done to all who played at Bath today.  It was a three way fixture against Bath RFC and Midsomer Norton RFC.  It was agreed that we would play on a full size pitch which was a first for many of the Bradford Team.  Unfortunately, it was a baptism by fire from the Bath team who were very well drilled and had some fast players.  The first half a was a shock to many BOA boys who probably for the first time were shown the result of not marking man for man, not tackling and not defending from the back foot.  The second half was much better and both teams seamed to be on equal footing.  I don't know the final score but it was alot to none as a result of the first half.

The second game against Midsomer Norton was BOA back to its best.  The slower MSN pack meant we were able to dominate upfront and then spin the ball wide, make use of the big pitch and score 5 tries against MSN's 2 tries.  Eric managed to convert all kicks. Final score was BOA 35 v MSN 14.  A good mornings rugby with a lesson from Bath and a fine win against MSN.  Well done to Harry and Eric for their effort throughout the morning and to Billy for being awarded the Best Effort Cup.

15 November
Avonvale and Colerne

BOA 7 - Avonvale 14.  The second BOA game was against Colerne.  Against a weaker side BOA managed to score three tries (Harry, Zander and ?) with Rufus and Sam getting their conversions to win the game BOA 21 - Colerne 0.  This was a frustrating mornings rugby where the boys had the opportunity to continue their level of play (which has been so impressive this season) but instead failed to spark.  Well done Phin for being awarded the Best Effort Cup.

The U12s played two teams today, Avonvale RFC and Colerne RFC.  The first game was against Avonvale.  The game started well with forwards and backs working hard and the ball getting wide twice and nearly crossing the line.  On the third time Harry broke on the blind side of a ruck and scored the first try.  Eric converted.  From then on the forwards went to sleep and failed to compete at rucks mauls and for the first time this season were pushed  back on the scrums.  The game ended

1st November
Trowbridge

The first match of the season to be played in wintery conditions, with rain lashing down & the wind blowing we took on Trowbridge. After a slow start the forwards took control of the set pieces & started to win good ball in the rucks & mauls. The pressure started to build on Trowbridge and eventually this told with Bradford running in 3 un-opposed tries before half time, the last being a superb team try with good ball won at the breakdown by the forwards and the backs moving the ball across the pitch, eventually creating an overlap to score in the corner. The start of the second half started with us again being slow out of the blocks, this time leading to the sole Trowbridge try. This shook the boys into action. Three more tries followed giving a convincing 30 - 5 final score. Despite the weather some great rugby was played by all who took part. Tries were scored by Brent, Ben H, Phin, Tom & Will K (2) who also picked up the best effort cup.
Well done to all and the unbeaten start to the season continues.

25th October
Frome and Ivel

Well done to all the boys who turned up today for the away game a Frome RFC.  When I received 14 apologies for boys not being available due to half term I wandered if we would have a team.  We did get 13 players and with a few playing out of position we had a winning team!  The first game was against Frome which we dominated throughout and scored a try in each half but in the final minutes of each half the boys concentration lapsed and the final score was BOA 10 v Frome 10.  Next up was the Ivel RFC visiting team.  This was an improved performance with the forwards winning some good ball at the breakdown and the backs combining well.  Final score was BOA 5 v Ivel 0.  A well deserved win.

Well done to Robbie for being awarded the Best Effort Cup.
